The volleyball match in the AP poll continued Sunday as LSU, again, jumped Southeastern Conference foe Alabama and claimed the No. 2 spot after three weeks.
The Tigers took the second position after knocking off Oregon to open the season, but fell to third following Alabama’s victory at Penn State in Week 2.
If LSU’s primetime performance on Thursday night against Mississippi State set the tone for the weekend, it was No. 1 Oklahoma’s 23-13 win at Florida State that capped it off.
The Sooners remain atop the polls, and they gained six 1st place votes, up to 37 from Week 2’s 31. The Tigers garnered 14 1st place votes which was the second most.
Five SEC schools, LSU, Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas and Florida made the Top 25 with Auburn narrowly missing out after having the nation’s longest winning streak snapped Saturday at Clemson.
Saturday’s Tiger opponent, West Virginia, climbed to No. 16.
The USA Today/Coaches Poll was released Sunday, as well. The Tigers held their No. 3 spot and received five 1st place votes after three weeks of action.
Ohio States seven-year, 103-week presence in the AP top 25 ended Sunday as the Buckeyes dropped from the ranks after being toppled by Miami, 24-6.
