LSU head coach Les Miles met with the media Wednesday night and announced that he has reinstated Jefferson and Johns to the team. They will return to practice Thursday.

“I met with Jordan Jefferson after his involvement today and determined that he would rejoin the team and that would happen tomorrow,” Miles said. “Both Jordan Jefferson and Josh Johns will have that opportunity to return to the team really as soon as possible.”

Miles made it clear that the reason for Jefferson’s return was because his charge had been reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.

“There’s a point in time where your society views that the charge level is one that is not so significant and that was done today by way of the grand jury, so I felt pretty confident and pretty comfortable [reinstating Jefferson],” he said.

The coach would not rule out the possibility of Jefferson playing against Kentucky, but he added “I can’t imagine that’s he’ll be ready to play this Saturday.”

Miles stated that Jarrett Lee is still the starting quarterback, and Jordan Jefferson will step into the No. 2 role.

“We’re better at quarterback than we’ve ever been,” the coach said.
However, moving forward, the coach kept the option in play for Jefferson to see significant snaps this season.

“What we would want to do is obviously add to that skill set,” Miles said. “There would be an opportunity just like a year ago when Lee played in every game, and we would have that opportunity to play Jordan Jefferson in every game as well.”

Miles would not rule out the possibility of a redshirt, but he said “I don’t see Jordan Jefferson giving great thought to that at this point.”

LSU takes on Kentucky Saturday, and it will be interesting to see if Miles throws Jefferson into action after minimal practice time
