On Towson: Towson State is used to winning, they’re a conference champion and 2-1 this year. They are a team that is going to come in and play here and give us their best shot. They have very good special teams, good concept on offense, and a defense that flys to the ball. Coach Ambrose has done a very good job there, and his team is well-coached and prepared.

On a "normal week": "The good thing about this week is we’ll have a Monday practice. A week ago at this time, we were all running for cover. So we’ll step into what would be our normal regimen and do some of the things we need to do. We’re looking forward to playing Towson State, playing in our stadium, and preparing for them and the rest of the season. It’s a great week for us to look forward to proving our game, offense and defense especially.”

On stepping out of SEC play: "I think an opponent is an opponent, but I think you get into the needy feel of an SEC game. Victory is a must, you know how important it is. You step away from that for a moment for a really quality opponent. We're going to exercise all of the things you have to get accomplished in that game, but the need of victory against an SEC opponent is not there."

On Towson compared to UNT, Washington and Idaho: "I would think that they would compare very favorably to those guys. Withuot making anybody unhappy, I would think North Texas would be a little thicker, a little stronger, but maybe not as fast. I think the Idaho Vandals had a pretty nice offense. I think this team has maybe a better offense than that. I can only tell you that special teams, offense and defense, they're a quality team, used to winning."

On freshman quarterback Stephen Rivers possibly playing: "He's deserving. He's getting better every day. He's doing good. Sometimes it's a little easier in practice."

On what he looks for in a non-conference opponent: "A history of winning. A quality opponent. I like the idea that we play teams from different regions and different places. I think it's easier to get up for a team like this one that you show the film and they're talented. And they are."
